WHY SHOULD WE CHOOSE ORGANIC?
Healthy choice, tasty choice
Organic farming is a form of agriculture that excludes the use of various chemicals, including fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, insecticides and pesticides, in accordance with EEC Regulation 209/91, EC Regulation 834/07, 889/08 and the Italian Ministerial Decree 18354/09.
The chemical abstinence ensures a production of raw materials that are free from chemical and pesticide residuals.
Our products are healthy, safe and good especially for children, athletes and everyone who wants to feel better and contribute to the preservation of the environment.
While processing the raw materials we do not add any chemicals, artificial colourings or flavours that could alter the original taste of our ingredients.
This is why all La Spiga Bio products have a unique taste and each ingredient used for our tortelli, ravioli, gnocchi and spätzle is easily recognizable.
Organic choice, a choice for the environment
Organic farming relies on alternative agricultural techniques by choosing plant and animal species that are resistant to disease and parasites. Natural fertilizers, composted as animal manure and green manure, are used according to the soil composition. This improves soil fertility and allows the natural production of nutrients in the soil. Crops rotation, companion planting and biodiversity preservation are some of the measures used to enhance agricultural productivity. A high plant and animal biodiversity in fact improves productivity and reduce pest problems. Another method to further increase biodiversity in the farming area is tree and hedge planting, which offers a natural habitat for many species and creates a natural barrier against contaminants.
Our organic products are made by promoting animal health, preserving soil fertility and respecting the environment.
Organic choice, a choice for the future
Climate change and the increasing demand for food challenge the way we produce food today. Organic farming is a sustainable alternative to traditional agriculture. Organic farming preserves the natural soil fertility, increases the number of micro- and macro-organisms and enhances water filtration in the subsoil. Moreover organically grown crops are effective against climate change, since biodiversity increases the resistance to rapid changes in climate conditions, droughts and other natural events. Pest and disease resistance is also increased thanks to biodiversity fitness, that attracts beneficial insects and microorganisms.
Organic farming also reduces energy consumption and pollution caused by nitrogen fertilizers, a non-sustainable choice produced with non-renewable sources.
Organic farming is a direct vote for a sustainable future, protecting the environment and ensuring sustainable food production for many generations to come.
